The GUANARED is a movement of artists and cultural workers in the province of Guanacaste in northern Costa Rica. It was founded in 2006 by Guadalupe Urbina when she called a meeting of her former students who were working with children in communities, as she had worked with them, and local cultural directors. The organization now has about 100 people from eleven counties in this region, has spread across Costa Rica, and has become a model in other countries in Central America.
The most visible activity GUANARED Guanacastecas meeting are carried out once a month in 7 of the cantons (Liberia, Tilaran, Abangares Hojancha, Nandayure, Nicoya and Carrillo.
Las Peñas is expression and art spaces where artists, and between them and the local public. There is usually music of all genres, especially youth and folk cut Guanacaste, poetry and stories.
The GUANARED has a coordination team links, animates and runs other related training and capacity building projects.
This network coordinates activities with the Regional Directorate of Culture and various agencies of the province.

The result is a CD recorded, a stage and a show performed by girl-os 9 to 14-year-old Girls and Boys for Tropical Forests.

Work done for the Growing Together program that meets girl-os 30 people from 10 to 21 years. They come from different rural communities and are primary, secondary others are construction workers or services in the hotels on the coast or in various companies. The result is a CD recorded and a show with music, theater and dance performed by child and youth-os, a stage made by artists from the region. Project sponsored by the Growing Together program Papagayo Peninsula.
